Street Style and DublinTown.ie

You may have noticed that recently there's a sidebar to the right that says I'm now blogging for DublinTown.ie. So I thought that I should write a little update explaining what it's all about and how it will affect my blog and what not.

So DublinTown.ie is about Dublin Town, and everything in it really, from theaters, to restaurants and fashion. They organise the Dublin Fashion Festival which is usually on for a weekend in September every year, this year being their 3rd and now I'm their Fashion blogger.

This means there will be lots of exciting new stuff on the blog like Fashion events in Dublin and Dublin streetstyle, both on my blog and the DublinTown tumblr.

In between the new stuff I will still be posting beauty hauls and empties, a movie review or something music related.

Below are some of the Pictures already on the DublinTown.ie tumblr.

I met Francesca on Grafton street. She loves dark colours in Autumn. Her favourite shops are Topshop and River Island.

Eunice Abe is my roommate and fellow blogger! I bumped into her on Grafton street too. She beleives that "fashion is fleeting but style is eternal." Her favourite places to shop are No name, Penneys and H&M.

I met Elvira at College Green. I loved her tailored style ! She loves charity vintage shops and shopping in Urban Outfitters, Forever 21 and Temple bar markets.
Lastly I met Seana, a fashion blogger @ Walking As I Dream. I was in love with her Army Jacket. She thinks Dublin fashion is unique in is own sense of style. Her favourite are Age Action on Camden Street and Om Diva on Drury Street.

Beasts of the Southern Wild | Movie Review

I was lucky enough to get to see the exclusive premiere of this movie but before I get into the details I have to talk a bit about the venue.

The venue was the Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield , and I do vaguely remember hearing about screenings being held there but I just had no idea where it was. Smithfield is still part of the city centre so anyone could easily walk but if your as lazy as I am you can always get the Luas. I thought it was a bit different to most cinemas, the atmosphere was different for sure, it felt more "grown up" to me.

The movie is centered around the life of a young girl no older than 8 called "Hush Puppy" (Quvenzhané Wallis) living with her father in what could be called a preapocalyptic world. I think that's why I liked this movie, because it more or less had the same premise of movies such as "The day after tomorrow" but rather than being a popcorn flick, the story is told in a tone that is more heartfelt. Also it was easy to be absorbed in the world, without spoiling anything, because really it was a vision of what our lives could be like in a few years.

The only faults I have with the movie is I think that hand held shaky cam was overused and just gave me a headache. I understand the director used it to help the audience feel more involved in some scenes but I just didn't like it. And finally the title doesn't make much sense to me, maybe I'm too much of a simpleton to get it and that could also be why I didn't understand a little scene near the end.

All in all, it was a great heartfelt movie that I probably would see again. So if its in a cinema near you, don't miss it!

Boohoo.com Event | Pre-Launch of Boohoo Boutique

My very first fashion event was the Boohoo.com Press Launch in Dublin two weeks ago. It was a pretty small gathering and I met so many nice people and was overall really impressed.

Now a little background to the brand. Personally I had only heard of Boohoo.com last year and that's because I'm not really the online shopping type,.(I've never shopped on Asos) Boohoo however, have been around since 2006! Boohoo is now one of Europe's fastest growing internet retailers since.
(Timeline below). Now boohoo decided to launch a new range that is said to be " an exclusive limited range of womenswear." The collection is also said to be "heavily baroque inspired" with prices ranging from 26-58. Below are Pictures of the Launch and of the Collection as worn by the model photographed.

My friend and fellow blogger Eunice pictured with 4fm radio host Suzanne Kane and her producer whose name I've forgotten. Sorry If your reading !

Also I got to meet two models from Britain and Ireland's Next top model(Kellie Forde and Lisa Madden) and 3-piece British girl group Stooshe performed.

Boohoo Have definetly come a long way since 2006. Boohoo Boutique focused their new collection on a lot of this seasons trends mainly a dark gothic edgy look. Their collection included PU, mesh, metallic highlights, rich gold brocade and so much more.

The collection is now available on the website so go check it out !
